Number Peek and Letter Peek
That classic game of peek-a-boo just got educational with Number Peek ($1) and Letter Peek ($1) for the iPhone. In Number Peek, each of the numbers 1-20 curls up with a tap to reveal a group of that many items, such as four peppers. A voice speaks the number aloud, as well as the name of the item. Letter Peek has a similar premise, with a tap of the displayed letter revealing an item whose name starts with the letter. Since the names of the letters and numbers aren’t spoken until kids tap, they get all the time they need to try and remember them on their own.
